For current things to do with the kids, rather than me retype what is already out there, I repost things i see on the facebook page, but who knows what I miss! I highly recommend you visit the website and facebook pages of Hulafrog Plymouth and Middleboro, as well as the Macaroni Kid Bridgewater, Brockton and Middleboro area (They also have a South Shore and a Plymouth edition) Both also cover Lakeville and both offer email newsletters which you can sign up for. Their websites are searchable by date, category, age etc.
It's a quiet time of the year, not a lot going on, but, if the weather is a little warm, its the perfect time of the year for letterboxing or geocaching. (No trees to block your view or signal) Scroll down to find info and links to both of these family fun and healthy activities!
Here are a few things to do with the kids. If you know of any ideas, drop me a line and I'll check it out. Your best source is the Middleboro Gazette for local things, I look for ones that are a little drive, and may or may not have some cost, but they sound like a lotta fun!

The Phantom Gourmet brothers have purchased the Mendon Twin Drive In, but they are working with the former long time owners to transition into the business. I'm sure their prices will go up a little, but its still a great take on a nice night: (Seasonal)

Nature Trail and Cranberry Bog
Come check out one of New England’s treasured Cranberry Bogs and Nature Trail. Bass Pro is teamed up with Patriots Place and Ocean Spray to offer a close look at a working cranberry bog. You can walk or snow shoe the ½ mile nature trail and checkout some of New England’s fall foliage and might even run across one of our native wild animals. You can access the trail/Bog beside the Bass Pro shop.
Please preread it before hand, just to make sure its appropriate
Below are a couple of things to try anytime if you want to get outdoors with the kids. I have done both, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Don't forget the bug spray and sunscreen!

9/11 Children's book:
If you want to talk to your kids about 9/11, but they're too young to remember it, or weren't even born yet, I heard about a book that may be good to check out. I haven't read it yet, but I heard it was just detailed enough to help them understand, on a kids level, the pain and emotion of that day. Its called "the little chapel that stood"Please preread it before hand, just to make sure its appropriate

Welcome to Letterboxing
What is Letterboxing?
Letterboxing is an intriguing mix of treasure hunting, art, navigation, and exploring interesting, scenic, and sometimes remote places. It takes the ancient custom of placing a rock on a cairn upon reaching the summit of a mountain to an art form. It started when a gentleman simply left his calling card in a bottle by a remote pool on the moors of Dartmoor, in England.
Here's the basic idea: Someone hides a waterproof box somewhere (in a beautiful, interesting, or remote location) containing at least a logbook and a carved rubber stamp, and perhaps other goodies. The hider then usually writes directions to the box (called "clues" or "the map"), which can be straightforward, cryptic, or any degree in between. Often the clues involve map coordinates or compass bearings from landmarks, but they don't have to. Selecting a location and writing the clues is one aspect of the art.
Once the clues are written, hunters in possession of the clues attempt to find the box. In addition to the clue and any maps or tools needed to solve it, the hunter should carry at least a pencil, his personal rubber stamp, an inkpad, and his personal logbook. When the hunter successfully deciphers the clue and finds the box, he stamps the logbook in the box with his personal stamp, and stamps his personal logbook with the box's stamp. The box's logbook keeps a record of all its visitors, and the hunters keep a record of all the boxes they have found, in their personal logbooks.

The more expensive but just as fun younger sibling to letterboxing is Geocaching:
Welcome to Geocaching

The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online.
