Next Kid's Night: July 10th, and set aside July 22nd!

It's official, I sent it into the paper, so mark your calendars. Kid's Night returns July 10th. Not sure what we'll be doing yet, but whatever it is, I'll be sitting down as much as I can! See you there!

What: Ice Cream Sundae Social fundraiser for MHA (Middleborough Historical Association)
When: Sunday, July 22nd, 2-4pm
Where: MHA Museum grounds, behind the Police station, next to Pierce Playground
Details: Face Painting, twisty balloons, entertainment (magic), music, games and of course: Ice Cream Sundaes!
Cost: The only cost is for food: (though other donations will be gladly accepted)
3-scoop Ice Cream Sundae: ($6adults/$3children/Free for 4 and under)
There will be drinks/baked goods and popcorn for sale as well.
Why: This is their big fundraiser, and I will be there doing twisty balloons as I did last year. They are a small group with little outside funding and are trying to preserve out towns heritage for your children to learn about. My son also did his Eagle Scout project here. So I hope you will try to attend if you're are around, and please, spread the word!

The bandages are off!

At Last! Down to just big band aids. Got the okay to walk on it and go back Monday to take the staples out. Everything looking good, so at this point I have all intentions of returning July 10th!
IF you can handle actual operation photos and the post op staples, i have posted a picture of my knee right now and scans of the actual operation photos they gave me, one that shows the drill bit in my knee bone!

It's Tuesday, and NO KID'S Night!

Now its starting to stink. Everytime I hear kids outside, I think how much I'm missing Kid's Night tonight and next week too! Going crazy, have stuff to do, just not motivated. But on the bright side, i'm off the major meds, just down to aspirin. See the doc tomorrow for bandage change and check the surgery site. maybe I'll be able to lose the crutches and bend the leg a little.

Day 3 recovery good, can't wait to get out though!

Still got the leg wrapped in lots of bandages and in a brace, so i can't bend it, but i can put weight on it, and it seems to be getting easier to move around.

Back to doctor's Wednesday for follow up and hopefully the okay to start getting back on my feet and maybe even therapy! Right now, it looks like no reason I can't be back for the July 10th Kid's Night. but keep watching the website!

Day 2 recovery

YUP, now I feel it! The nerve block wore off last night and now its just a constant dull . ache and if i stand m i think the scars get rubbed. luckily I have plenty of Meds and theres a cooler pack under my outer bandage that has hoses connected to it so cold water will flow around it.t
I think another day of rest. i started going though Christmas parade pictures and there quite a few of you in them, so keep an eye out!

Surgery went fine, Can't wait to get back to business!

After dropping my son of at work at 6 am, went for a last 4 mile bike ride, an easy hike at Pratt Farm and caught 2 largemouth bass there.
Then I went  to the hospital!
All went well. Surgery took a little over 3 hours, but they gave me nerve blocker so i still don't feel anything. (I know its coming!) My wife and son are taking great care of me! (Daughter is in Amherst, but she'd help too if she was home!)
Keep checking the website and especially the things to with the kids tab, as i'll  be home with my laptop and and I love to look for stuff to do to share with you all as well as new ideas for Kid's Night.
Should be back in business for the July 10th Kid's Night.
Watch for details on the date for the annual Make your own Mini Pizza night!

last minute fun and then off to surgery!

Woke up at 4:30, took son to work at 6, then went for a bike ride, a short hike and caught 2 bass this morning, and its only 8:00! Way to go out in style!
Surgery at 10. Keep your fingers crossed!

Well, we went out with a bang tonight! It started off slow, but picked up quite a bit later. It was so nice to see many of you one more time before the break, and we had a several new kids as well!
Thanks to the kids for their paintings and messages wishing me luck and to the grown ups for your thoughts as well. I will be doing stuff on my computer during the recovery, so feel free to email me, as I'm sure I'll start going crazy next Tuesday when I realize there's NO Kid's Night!
So NO Kid's Night June 26th or July 3rd.
I will post updates on the surgery and recovery, and if all goes well, we'll be back in business on July 10th!

Tonights the night!

Last Kid's Night for a few weeks is tonight (6/19)! If I don't see you, say hi to the kids for me, and please keep me in your thoughts.

It's official!

Finally got a date for the 2nd surgery. As I thought, it will be the 22nd of June. This should mean 2 weeks of Kid's Night canceled. (I could have had it a little earlier, but it would have meant probably 3 weeks of no Kid's Night!! Yikes!) When I see the doctor on Monday I'll confirm it, but for now I'm planning on NO Kid's Night on June 26 and July 3rd. (Sorry)
I also plan on resuming birthday parties probably the 2nd or 3rd week on July. (Yeah!)

SO, hope to see you this week (June 19th) for the last Kid's Night for a little while. Its a paint night, so dress accordingly as always!

IF all goes well, I should hear from the doctor today about the surgery date, which I think will be Friday June 22nd.
IF so, then i will most likely cancel the June 26th and July 3rd Kid's Nights. The good news is I should back up and running for Birthday Parties and Kid's Night by the 2nd week in July. Then we'll be looking for a date for the Make Your Own Mini Pizza Night! Woo Hoo!

Surgery #1 done, Kid's Night on, A night out WITHOUT the kids, for a good cause!

Just had surgery on right knee for torn cartilage. The cartilage was fixed, and i will be back to work Monday, as well as Kid's Night this Tuesday. (Yeah!)
BUT, while I was under, he scoped my left knee to see how bad ACL was torn. Unfortunately, the ACL on my left knee is pretty bad, so he wants me to get the surgery on that asap. AND he also found a tear on the right knee ACL while he was in there, so that will be another surgery for another day.
My hope is to get the second surgery done asap so i can start parties again in July, but I'll know better next week. I'll  worry about the third one later.
So back to Kid's Night: more Father's Day, plus Flag Day and maybe more Karaoke. We have the collage started, so bring in a wallet size for me to scan and post upon there!

Now one for the grown-ups only. As you know, I am also involved with Scouting. So I am passing this along for a fellow Scout Pack. Next Saturday (June 16th) at the VFW in Middleboro, Cub Scout pack 20 will be having a fundraiser. It's an adults only night of comedy. Tickets are $20 each (it is a fundraiser), and there will be a cash bar as well as raffles. Doors open at 6, comedy starts at 7pm. Proceeds to benefit Pack 20  here in Middleboro. Feel free to bring your own food and snacks!

Right knee surgery today, hopefully have answers about the other knee so I can book dates for parties again!

Well, I am having surgery, this Friday, but its on my RIGHT knee, to fix torn cartilage. (Same skiing accident, different knee) While I'm under for that, he is going to check my LEFT knee  (the one with the torn ACL) to see if I will need surgery on that knee at a later date. Either way, Kid's Night is on for next Tuesday!

Pictures for Father's Day crafts

This week (6/5) we'll be doing Father's Day stuff and if you still need it, end of school stuff. Like Mother's Day, if you'd like, bring in a picture we can use it to make a special something for Dad or even for a teacher. Make sure you don't need it back!
You asked, so I have started a list (to the right) of things I could use for Kid's Night. As I think of things I'll add to the list. If you have one of these items, and want to donate them, or if you see them for a buck or two at a yard sale, pick them up and I'll give you them money for them.
Tell your friends we're still here, and with the exception of my knee surgery recovery time, we should be here all through the summer!
See the doctor this Wednesday, hopefully finally get a date for surgery so I can make plans!
