The Christmas Party is on!

Looks like we have enough people helping and bring stuff! The weather isn't cooperating, but its our last chance, so the party is on! Use your own discretion of course. Hope to see you there! Don't forget the Pj's and slippers!

Christmas Party at Kid's Night help list!

PLEASE NOTE: Rather than repost this list over and over, i will update this same post, so check back to see whats left on the list.
AS OF TODAY (12/12): need a few more toppings, check the list of what we have coming.
I think we're finally all set on cookies and cupcakes.

December 17th is our annual Christmas (Eve) party at Kid's Night (not actually on Christmas Eve).

PLEASE NOTE: I HAVE TO GET OUT ASAP after the party, so i would appreciate everyone making sure they get there on time and if you can, helping to clean up after. THANKS!

The plan is to do crafts and maybe practice some carols till 6:00, that will give people time to get there and eat dinner, and me time to set up decorating tables. Around 6 the cupcake and cookie decorating will begin. we'll do that till around 7ish. At 7, i will sit the kids down in the dining area for some quiet games songs and stories, ending with The Night Before Christmas. Kids are welcome to come dressed in their PJ's, bring a blanket or stuffed animal for the story time if they like. My hope is to have a nice homey feeling for the evening,and i appreciate any help you can give:

Toppings to decorate with, such as

• little tubes of icing gel (the little ones you use to make lines and letters with, not the big ones with different tips)
• anything you can think of that isn't on the have list below

December schedule is up

The December schedulle is up, click on the tab above
One important reminder from my recent email:
Christmas Eve at Kid's Night party will be Dec 17th from 5-8. If you haven't been, kids come in their pj's, we do decorate your own cookies and cupcakes, a few games,Christmas carols and i finish off the night with a reading of a few (short) Christmas stories, including of course, the Night Before Christmas. As always, I appreciate your help and will start a list of what we will need.

We will need some people to volunteer to make cupcakes (unfrosted), cookies and to bring in some frosting and toppings as well as a few drinks (eggnog, cider or something festive).
I expect around 30 kids or so, so if one person makes a dozen , and someone else makes a couple, we'll be good.

The costume party pictures are finally up, and yes the group picture will be in the Gazette. She has had a lot of articles  with pics , so she had to wait. She will try and get it in next weeks edition!

This week (Nov 5th) we'll be making art with pasta and beans, from a strange creature to a pretty picture, some imagination required!
PLEASE NOTE: If you have older kids, remind them to respect the younger kids and not use inappropriate language around them. Kids repeat things they hear, and I don't want any little ones repeating something bad they heard at Kid's Night! There will be no 3 strike rule for inappropriate behavior. If I see or hear it, i will ask them to leave.
If you have younger kids, please remember, once they leave the Kid's Night room, I don not have eyes on them. If you tell me its okay for them to go back and forth between the dining area and the Kid's Night room, I expect you to be watching for them coming out of the Kid's Night room.

To everyone who helped make the costume party a HUGE success, THANKS! Whether you brought in goodies, held doors or watched for stragglers during the parade, whatever, thank you! A big thanks as well to the Trucchi's employee who broke open bags of lollipops for the kids!

Costume Party this week (October 29th)

Come one, come all, come dressed in costume (or not), but be prepared for fun! There will be crafts, games and some where around 6ish we'll take the gang around the stores for a parade and of course, each child will get a small bag of candy (One per child please)

Important Notice for Kid's Night families

Dear Kid's Night families,
I have a few very important topics in this email/post, so  please read on ....

First the good stuff,
We had a nice visit from the MFD and if you hop on Facebook and go to the MFD page, the group picture is their profile pic, at least it was this morning. Hopefully the picture will also be in the Gazette next week. There is a picture from the pirate party in there this week!
If you've been in the past several weeks, you may have noticed a little change with the way things are run. Specifically, I have been keeping the night a little tighter. I have always tried to give the kids a little room and freedom to have fun, but now that we are in a closed room out back, i have been working on keeping the noise and the running around to a minimum so we can concentrate on crafts and games. I hope everyone enjoys it better.

Now to the not so good stuff.
It has been brought to my attention by my manager that we have had ongoing issues on Kid's Nights with food and drinks being taken with out being paid for.
Please remember, while I've always said if once in a while you can't afford to eat out that night, just come for the fun. But that doesn't mean you can take advantage of my kindness. We have a good thing going here, and I don't want one or two people to spoil it for us. It is after all, a business, and Papa Gino's won't continue to let us have Kid's Night if they are not making money.
Also in that light, please note:
Ice creams are not free. They come with a kids meal. Otherwise, there is a charge.
If you get a courtesy cup, please use it only for water.
No one is allowed in my storage room.
Lastly, I hate to have to say this, but if you take a water or drink out of the cooler, please pay for it!

Coming up this week (10.01.13) will be the Middleboro Fire Department visit. Kids can clinb on board, try on a helmet, ask questions and even try a practice 911 call with the firefighter.

Truck is scheduled to come from 5:30 to 7pm. As always, the truck is on call, so there is always the possibility it may have to leave in the middle of the visit. (only happened once in the past since they've been coming)

Dear Kid's Night families:
We're back from our 2 week hiatus, and with a new (school) year comes new crafts, music and games. Of course, we'll break out a few of the old ones that everyone seems to like too!

This week (Sept 10th) we'll be making a new funny face with paper plates, remembering 9-11 and celebrating the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, with apples and honey!

Please remember to watch your children if they are out in the hall or dining room area. I cannot see through walls and don't have super hearing, and I can not be in 2 places at once.I like to let the kids play, but there are other guests and sometimes new children in the store, and we don't want to scare them away!

Krazy Days was a big hit, thanks to all who stopped by to help me out in one way or another (Sherry and Nadine) Lots of fun and work, but lots of good exposure for me too!

Krazy Days and nights

It was a crazy night at the mini pizza night! Over 40 kids and a whole lotta pizzas being made. Thanks to everyone who helped set up and clean up! Hopefully a  return to "normal" this week as we break out the balloons for some funny faces and silly races!

Just FYI, I will be at Krazy Days in Middleboro Friday and Saturday, doing twisty balloons and glitter tattoos! I should be somewhere between Benny's and Maria's, so if you're there, stop on by and say Hi!

It's finally here! Make Your Own Mini Pizza Night returns!

Join us for this annual ritual as we let the kids do some cooking!
Each child gets to make their own mini pizza, (with a little help if needed) learning how to stretch the dough and then putting sauce and cheese on top. Then the best part, we put it in the oven and they get to eat it!
One pizza per child please!

More summer camp fun tonight!

Tonight kids will be making edible necklaces to take on those long hikes in the woods or the backyard! They will also be making signs with their names or initials or whatever they like, out of twigs, seeds and pasta, which they can hang up on their door or in their bedroom!
Once again we'll do some activities around the campfire as well!

Next Kid's Night, plus Fundraiser info

Summer Camp activities this week, including the indoor campfire with stories and games!

Here's the info on the fundraiser I will be doing free twisty balloons at:
Sunday July 21st RAIN or SHINE (we'll have tents) 1:30-4:00
At the museum grounds (Behind the police station, next to Pierce playground)
Join us for an afternoon of good old fashioned fun at the Middleborough Historical Association's annual Ice Cream Sundaes on Sunday Social Event. There will be lots of free stuff for the kids and of course, Sundaes for sale for everyone! (It is a fundraiser after all)
There will be live music, face painting and I will be doing twisty balloons. There will also be magic by Adam Bond (3:00-3:30), and children's games as well! And all that stuff for free!
SUNDAE prices:
Adults 12 and up (3 scoops) $6.00
Children 4 to 11 $4.00
Under 4 FREE
There will also be drinks and baked goods for sale!
Event is RAIN OR SHINE, join us under the tents!
Proceeds support the MHA and its many activities and maintaining of the many artifacts and buildings of the museum and preserving the history of Middleboro for your children and their children's children! The event is partially funded by the Lakeville Cultural Council.

Luaua Party coming up this week! (6/18)

It's finally here, so grab your flip flops and practice your Limbo!

We have several people helping (THANK YOU), but feel free to bring a treat if  you like. There will be punch, some snacks (cupcakes, cookies) pineapple bites, and even some pineapple juice. The fun starts at 5, I will be setting up before hand so it will be ready to go. Seating in the Kid''s Night room will fill up quickly, so plan accordingly!
(you could get there early and eat beforehand, then hop in the room when i get there at 5)

)Don't forget to have the kids wear their best beach wear (shoes of some sort and shirts required though)

Pet rock / Paint night warning! Luau Party!

This week (5/28) we will be painting rocks to make pet rocks, so we will be using ACRYLIC paints, which are not very washable. there will be some washable paints available as well.
Kids can find a special rock (tennis ball size or smaller) to bring in to make their pet!

Coming up in June! A Luau party! While we will be making our own grass skirts and leis, kids are encouraged to wear their own appropriate Luau fashions! Please contact me to help with drinks and snacks for the party! Thanks!

Despite the massacre in Boston yesterday, i feel we should still hold Kid's Night tonight. Our strength after a tragedy like this is to come together and share, so if you feel the need to get out and talk with friends, get away from it for a while, please join us.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected.

Another busy night, and a few things needed ...

We had another busy night this week, and with a little luck, we'll have another next week as we feature St. Patrick's day activities!

If you happen to have some, I am looking for toilet paper and paper towel tubes, as well as Styrofoam meat trays. With all the kids we've had, we are running low on these items. Thanks!

Coming up March 26th, the Annual Lucky Egg Hunt! If you've never been, its not like a typical hunt. You can arrive at anytime during the night (5-8pm) and when you get there, come and see me for your lucky egg number. then you will search among the dozens of numbered eggs placed around the store for YOUR lucky egg. When you find it, bring the egg and number to me and I will give you a small bag of candy n return. (One bag per child please) Kids are welcome to do it over and over (and they usually do), but just for fun after they get their candy!

WHOA!

What a night! We had over 25 kids, and I think they all came at once, and i think there was a full moon and a low pressure system or something! But we had fun. Never got to the Dr. Seuss stories, too many crazy kids, so we played a few games.
Pictures from the last few weeks to be posted soon, but i have 2 more parties this weekend, so it will be sometime next week.

Free tax advice and free thundersticks at the next Kid's Night!

This week (2/19), which is also school vacation week, we'll be sponsored by Middleboro H&R Block! Manager Renee Andrews and her staff will be on hand to answer tax prep questions and she will bring blow up thundersticks for the kids to bring home! Of course I'll have some crafts and games ready to keep the kids busy while you talk taxes!

Been lucky enough to have power since Saturday morning. so unless something comes up, i will be out and about Tuesday, and there will be a Kid's Night. More Valentine's Day activities are scheduled, but you  never know.

Groundhog Day activities!

We tried a few penguin games last week, and some were hits , some were misses, so this week we may try a few Groundhog Day games!  Now lets see, what do groundhogs do ....

According to the news (I know) its supposed to stop early this morning, with only 3-4 inches, so unless they really blow it (again), Penguin Night is on at Kid's Night! Check back before 4 for any changes.

So nice to see so many old friends last night and to make some new ones. Found my cameras memory card, too late to take pics of all the wonderful creations and creators last night, but i'll be ready next week! Which by the way is Penguin Night! See you there!
