Special Alert! No Kid's Night this week (1/3/12)

Due to a last minute notice of a scholarship award for my son, there will be NO KID"S NIGHT on January 3rd. My apologies for the last minute change!

Yes , there is a Kid's Night tonight (12/27/11). We will be doing noise makers for New Year's Eve, as well as more mini marshmallow activities!

OMG what a party!

Well, as you can see from the picture above, it was a busy night at our first ever Christmas Eve at Kid's Night party! I think it was a success!
Everything went pretty much according to plan except we forgot the Christmas carol singing! (Whoops!)
Other than that, it was a little noisy and there wasn't a seat to be had for a while, but I think, (I hope) everyone had fun.
Thanks to my wife and daughter for all their help, and to all the parents and grandparents as well that contributed by bringing stuff and helping out during the night. I couldn't have done it without you all!
Thanks also for the cards and gifts.

Another BUSY week! Party Next!

Don't know where everyone's coming from, but it was another busy night this week, and so I think next week's Christmas Eve at Kid's Night party will also be fairly busy! The last Kid's Night before Christmas has traditionally been a very quiet one, so that's why I chose to do the party then, but, well, we'll see how it goes!

My plan is to set up a separate table in the area by the claw machine for the decorating, so we can keep our usual areas for crafts and the stories later. The first hour (I hope) will be crafts, so people can arrive, and eat and we'll have all the toppings and such that people are bringing. Around 6 o'clock we'll start the decorating. When we're done with that, hopefully somewhere around 7, we'll go back for some carols and stories.

PS, if you signed up to bring something, I'm guessing around 25-30 kids. IF you didn't and still want to bring something, feel free to. Lastly, don't feel like you can't come if you didn't bring something. please come and share in what I hope will be a memorable Kid's Night for all!

Topping list update , found a coat and more!

First off, thanks so much to everyone who has signed onto bring something for the Dec 20th party! I think we have everything we need but feel free to bring a little something if you still want. We will have cupcakes and now cookies to frost and decorate, some drinks, and all the other stuff!

I think I know who it was, but someone left a girls small pink coat, and if its who I think, I don't have your email, so I left it up front at the store.

It was a very busy night this week, but lots of kids went home with lots of decorations! We never got to games, but I think everyone still had fun!

Holiday party help list

We are making cupcakes that the kids can decorate for the Dec 20th Holiday party, so if you can help by bring a topping for making faces, etc, please either pick something from the list below and email ASAP so i can take it off the "Still need" list , or email me ASAP with your own idea and I'll put it on the "Already have" list
PS- I only expect a small crowd, maybe 2 dozen kids,so just small bag of each would do.

Family crafts and the Holiday Party!

Next week, (November 29th) will feature some family related crafts. You can bring in a family photo or photos that you don't need back and we'll use it to make a craft, or you can make some Advent related crafts as we gear up for the holidays!

Also, don't forget school or dance or sports pictures for me to scan for the bulletin board.

Lastly, our first ever Holiday party that you voted for will be December 20th! I am still formulating ideas, but I'm thinking a night with music, a few easy crafts, some stories and some kind of special treat for the kids. If anyone has any ideas and/or would like to help, drop me a line!

School pictures and Pilgrim crafts!

Now that the school pics are coming back, if you haven't already brought me one, and you want to be on the "virtual Kid's Night bulletin board", bring me in a small picture from school, sports or whatever and I'll add it to the pile!

Next week (November 22nd), we'll revisit some of the Native American games we didn't get to this week and we'll add in some Pilgrim crafts and games as well!

Painting coming up!

We had a good crowd last night, over 15 kids and a lot of turkey callers were made (and driving people crazy)

Next week (November 15th), we'll be working on Native American crafts, including totem poles, masks and more, with painting involved, so dress appropriately!

We'll also try some games that Native Americans kids may have played, adapted for the Kid's Night crowd of course!

PS- Still looking for a few more those school, dance or sports photos! I can scan them and return them if you don't have an extra. as soon as I get enough, I'll start the virtual bulletin board!

Early leftovers!

Leftovers? Yes, with Halloween yesterday and a full month of Thanksgiving ahead, I figured we'd take it easy tonight and break out some old favorites like poppets, bean monsters and whatever else we can find!

PS - So nice to see so many of you at the Burkland School Friday night! Sorry if I didn't get a chance to chit chat, but I was twisting balloons for 2 1/2 hours straight! The fundraiser was a big success, raising $5000 for the kids!

Costume party was AWE - (wait for it) SOME!

We had over 40 kids at last nights party, and what a party it was! WE even had a parade of costumes through all the stores (Verizon, etc) next to us! Thanks to all the parents who helped!

Now it's on to the Burkland Big Blast this Friday (October 28th) from 6-8:30! Hope to see you there! (See the things to do with the kids section for details)
